FLORENTINES
We have always made Florentines from the first day the bakery opened. A thick patterned chocolate base, topped with roasted sliced almonds, all bound together with sticky, but crunchy caramel.
What’s not to like? Their origin is something of a mystery that combines stories of King Louis XII of France, with a possible home town of Florence, in Italy – hence the name. They are really tricky to make which is why you don’t see them everywhere, but we are on a mission to introduce Florentines to everyone.
We start by mixing juicy sultanas with fragments of orange & lemon peel & then combine with rich caramel which we then bake to get that perfect chewy but crunchy texture.
